“Who is God” Answers

Myth or Truth?

Ben

Of course there is only one god and his name is Jehovah.  Our Watchtower papers talk about the fact that only pagans believe god has a “trinity”.  In fact, Jehovah created Jesus.

Spencer

God the Father started off as a man on another planet, but he worked his way up to being a god.  He is only one person but there are other gods like the holy ghost and god the son.  If I am good enough and do enough good deeds, someday I can be a god too!

Jaden

Well everything and everyone is god.  God is not a person, he is a force. We have unlimited inner power through god.  I am god and you are god too.

Nicole

We all have unlimited powers so there is no need for a god.  Not everyone is aware of their power.  So many people run around talking about a god that does not exist, when they should be learning about their own unlimited power.

Rayya

There is only one god and his name is Allah.  But, we cannot know him.  I know some Christians that claim that god is a father to them but that would make him seem human and that is the greatest sin of all.

David

God is a spirit so we cannot see God but we can pray to God.  He cares about us.  I agree with many of the others that there is only one God.  Nothing like this crazy trinity beliefs that Christians seem to believe where they think there are 3 Gods in one.

Eila

Actually God is the absolute.  He is a universal spirit.  And everyone is actually part of God although most people are not aware of that.

Charini

There is no god.  But I worship the spirit of Buddha.  I guess you could say that Buddha is a type of god.

Chris

There is one true God and he created the universe out of absolutely nothing.  God has a God the Father, God the Son and a God the Holy Spirit part.  He created us and He loves us.  He is eternal.  There is no beginning and no end to God.

Darwin

That is easy to answer.  There just aren’t any gods.

Catherine

My Notes

·       I think the “cosmic cop” myth is actually true.  I think that is why we have so many floods and wars.  Must have been too much fun going on here.

·       It seems like only people who go to my church pray to God.  I guess a lot of people must just not even try because they cannot see God or feel God.  If he is just an energy that would make sense.

·       I know a kid who prayed that their “Monopoly” game play money would turn into real money if God was real and it didn’t so they don’t bother to pray anymore.  Also some lady prayed her father wouldn’t die from cancer, but he died anyways and she doesn’t bother to pray anymore either.  She figures God did not really care and that God doesn’t listen to people.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God created the world.

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like ourselves. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground."

So God created human beings in his own image.  In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God created human beings in the image of God.

Jeremiah 1:5-8

"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations."

"O Sovereign Lord," I said, "I can't speak for you! I'm too young!"

The Lord replied, "Don't say, 'I'm too young,' for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. 8 And don't be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!"

Matthew 5:1-12

God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.   God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.  God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.  God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.  God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.  God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.  God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

Exodus 3:4-6

When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, "Moses! Moses!"

"Here I am!" Moses replied.

"Do not come any closer," the Lord warned. "Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. 6 I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob."

Mark 11:22-26

Then Jesus said to the disciples, "Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.  I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours.  But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too."

1 John 5:11-15

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life.  I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.  And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.  And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

John 1:1-4

In the beginning the Word already existed.  The Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He existed in the beginning with God.  God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

The Word gave life to everything that was created,  and his life brought light to everyone.

John 1:17-18

For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.  No one has ever seen God. But the one and only Son is himself God and is near to the Father's heart. He has revealed God to us.

Psalm 86:10

For you are great and perform wonderful deeds.  You alone are God

Psalm 86:5,10

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

Psalm 100:3-5

Acknowledge that the Lord is God!  He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Romans 5:8

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

1 Peter 1:18-19

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver.  It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

Psalm 139:1-6

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.  You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I'm far away.  You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.  You know everything I do.  You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.  You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!

Romans 8:38-39

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 16:11

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

1 John 3:21-22

Dear friends, if we don't feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence.  And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.

Colossians 1:15-17

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.  He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.  Everything was created through him and for him.  He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

1 John 4:8

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:16

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.  God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!  You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Psalm 102:12

But you, O Lord, will sit on your throne forever. Your fame will endure to every generation.

Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.  He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.  Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

1 Timothy 2:1-6

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.  Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.  This is good and pleases God our Savior,  who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.  For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

Psalm 36:5-7

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths.  You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.  How precious is your unfailing love, O God!

Sharing My Faith Notes

If My Friend Says….

I Can Say…..

I don’t believe there is a God.

God is a spirit that is in everything around us.

I worship many gods.  There is not just one god.

I don’t think God cares much about people because look at all the bad things that happen.

My family worships Jehovah.  He created Jesus.  So that is the same God that you worship, right?

If you want to please God, you won’t have any fun in your life.
